Mtyu Junior School

The local junior school is very popular with the children who are very keen to learn.

There are usually about 75 children in each classroom where the equipment is very poor and often broken.

Pupils have to learn from old books, but only the teacher would have a copy.   There is not enough money for books for the children or for paper and pencils.

Children are still very keen to learn and look forward to going to school each day

This is a picture of one of the blackboards that were used everyday by the school.

As it is very hot for a large part of the year, the classrooms get uncomfortable and too warm. It is not possible to bring any relief to this at present as the electricity supply is broken and there is no water avaialable at the school.   There is concrete base provided for a water storage tank but there is not a tank to collect the water.

You can see the base for the tank on the right side of the picture.   The metal roof is useful in helping collect the water which then could be stored and used by the pupils during the day.

Parts of the school are in a very poor state of repair but this doesn't stop the buildings being fully used everyday.
