Mtyu church

The church at Mtyu is built of mud bricks with a corrogated tin roof. This church is the only one in the Eastern Cape with a toilet.  It's known as the church with the toilet.

The congregation number about 40 people who are mainly women.  Most of the men of the village work away from the area and only return home occassionally.

The church is led by Jeremiah & Noluntu Putin.

Jeremiah works as a prison warden during the day and then works in the church in the evenings and at weekends.

The church meet for services every day of the week.

The furnishings inside the church are very basic. The people are very passionate in their worship so having no chairs to sit on is not a problem.
